In 1932, founder William Black opened a nut store in New York City called “Chock full 0 Nuts.” During the Depression years, Mr. Black converted the store to a quick service coffee shop. The format was hugely successful. In its heyday, there were over 100 Chock full o’ Nuts locations in greater New York. Patrons liked Chock full o’ Nuts coffee so much that they asked to buy it in grocery stores. In 1954, Chock full o’ Nuts, The Heavenly Coffee, was launched in supermarkets across the U.S. In the 50’s, Page Morton Black sang the familiar Chock full o’ Nuts jingle in slow waltz style. A contemporized

version of the “Heavenly Coffee” jingle is broadcast nationally on radio and TV.
