16th Annual Vermont Teddy Bear Artist Event and Chester Craft Fair

Nine participating Vermont artists with their collectible bears - Donna Bjerke, Nancy Edmunds, Lynn & Phil Gatto, Linda Hitchcock, Barbara Patnode, Debra Travers, Sue Wilder, Sandi Rexford, Carol Carini.

Vermont's finest Teddy Bear artists gather together on the Hugging Bear lawn to display their many wonderful hand-crafted collectible bears. A fun time for one and all and a great opportunity to meet the artists in person or perhaps to have a bear personally signed by the artist who created your bear. Held in conjunction with the Chester Craft Fair (see below).

34th Annual Chester Fall Craft Show & Sale
This popular annual event is held on the Chester Village Green. Dozens of area crafts people offer their creations for show and sale. Not your typical craft fair by any means! Everything from artwork to clothing to home furnishings. The 34th Annual "Sale on the Green" in Chester is ready for another great show of craft exhibiting. This two-day event takes place Saturday, from 10am-4pm and Sunday from 10am-4pm. A wide array of handmade craft and gift items from some of Vermont's most respected crafters including Jewelry, Knitted Items, Engraved Slate, Folk Art, Candles, Natural Soap, Quilting, Ornaments, Wood Miniatures, Silk Scarves, Toys, Clothes, Stained Glass, Ceramics, Clocks, Crocheted Items, Dolls, Dog Accessories, Maple Syrup, Bird Houses, and more. Delicious foods will be provided by local organizations including the Chester Rotary, American Legion, local schools, and others. There will be plenty of BBQ Hot Dogs, Hamburgers, Chicken, Baked Potatoes, Hot Soup, Fajitas, Cotton Candy, Cakes and Cookies, Soft Ice Cream, Pretzels, Hot and Cold Beverages and more. A two-day event not to be missed! Seven Vermont teddy bear artists will have their collectible bears on the Hugging Bear Lawn on Saturday from 10 am-4 pm. The Chester Historical Society will be having their second annual auction on the Academy lawn on Saturday at 10am.

VINTAGE TEDDY BEAR WEEKEND!

With facilitator Roni Ginsberg. 1940's-1960's American Teddies such as Knickerbocker, Gund, character bears, English Teddies - Merrythought, Dean, Farnel, and Twyford - plush and mohair. Dust off those vintage Teddy Bears and come for a fun-filled weekend discussing and comparing vintage and not-quite-antique manufactured teddy bears. For more information call us for details at 1-800-325-0519. Attendees are encouraged to bring their older bears for show and tell, labeled and unlabelled for identification and education. Call or e-mail info@huggingbear.com for special price for those staying at the Inn.
Third Annual Pre-Halloween Cemetery Tour on Thursday, October 25, at 6pm, led by historians dressed in colonial clothes by lantern light thru the Chester town cemetery. They will talk about various people who lived in Chester and are buried in this cemetery. Actors in period clothes standing by the appropriate tombstones speak to their lives at that time. Those wishing may give donations towards historical society restoration fund are invited to do so. Refreshments will be served after the tour. The next night, Friday, October 26, guests at the Hugging Bear Inn may participate in a jack-o-lantern cutting party. There will be the annual bonfire on Saturday, October 27 behind the buildings across the street. Events occur rain or shine.

OVERTURE TO CHRISTMAS

Chester, Vermont's 21st Annual Overture to Christmas Celebration
Join us as we usher in the holiday season in Chester, Vermont. The Overture to Christmas was voted one of the 10 Best Winter Events in Vermont. The tradition continues with many fun activities for everyone. On Sat., Dec. 6 visit Santa and watch him turn on the town and tree lights. The gingerbread house contest continues to be popular. Enter a gingerbread house and win a prize. Holiday concert and caroling with reception. Last year a creative new marionette show was added . The Vermont Historical railroad has a Holiday Santa Claus express train on the second weekend of December. Meet Santa on the train. Check www.rails-vt.com or call 1-800-707-3530 for details. Reservations need to be made ahead of time. More to come. We will try to keep you posted. Come to Chester and stay for the weekend. A good chance to do your holiday shopping for unique gifts.
